The Southern University Alumni Federation - Arizona Chapter (SUAF-AC) organized its first planning meeting on May 12, 2018. Shortly thereafter, the group elected chapter officers, and, on July 20, 2018, President, Christina Hill, and Vice President, Dr. Robert "Trey" Crosby, were sworn in at the Southern University Alumni Federation's National Conference in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The pair was also named to the Inaugural Cohort of the Southern University Alumni Federation's 40 Under 40.  A year later, on July 20, 2019, the SUAF-AC held a chartering celebration in Chandler, Arizona, welcoming Dr. James Ammons, Executive Vice President & Executive Vice Chancellor for Southern University and A&M College, Ms. LaQuitta Thomas, Southern University Alumni Federation National President, and Dr. Derrick Warren, Southern University Alumni Federation Executive Director, to the Valley of the Sun.​
